What are your favourite events that the Toronto Rotaract club hosts?
The social fundraisers and hands-on volunteer projects are among my favourite events. These events have provided me with an opportunity to grow personally and professionally, while addressing local and global needs at the same time. While giving back to the community, these events have allowed me to forge relationships with new friends from around the world – living the true meaning of fellowship through service.

Q: What does service above self mean to you?
It is a simple but meaningful motto that captures the responsibility to give back to the community that has already given so much to us. Joining Rotaract you are choosing to serve. You are not cajoled or coerced but rather you have felt a calling to prioritize the service of others before the needs of yourself.

Q: What does service above self mean to you?
Service above self to me is the ultimate act of humility that one can show to another human being. It is the selfless act of giving back to others despite their circumstances or background and despite the givers circumstances or background. I think that this motto fits Rotaract and Rotary International perfectly- a group of dedicated individuals that put the needs of their respective communities and the world before them.

I was a member of the Interact Club in high school and since I liked what Rotary stood for, I wanted to continue with Rotaract.
- Karthiga Satkunarajah
The reason I joined Rotaract is because of an exchange program I participated in during high school, through Rotary. Since I’ve settled in Toronto, I wanted to get more involved in Rotary, and give back through the organization that made a difference in my life.
