Rotary International UN Day in New York City
Date: Saturday, November 2, 2013
Each year at Rotary UN Day, more than 1300 Rotarians including many Rotary International Directors, Foundation Trustees, past Senior Leaders, and guests come together at UN Headquarters in New York. The program is designed to inspire and educate all participants as well as provide insight into the relationship between Rotary and the United Nations. In the past, the day has been very successful and has sold out.
The day will begin at 9:30am and conclude by 4:00pm. Lunch will be in the UN Cafeteria, over looking the East River at 1:00pm.
Rotary Day at the United Nations also includes a special program for youth interested in humanitarian service. Youth will have the opportunity to hear about a model UN program, the Shelter Box project, some projects that Interact Clubs are working on, and an overview of the UN and much more. The program begins at 9:30am and concludes at 12:30 followed by lunch. Participants are welcome to join the adult program after lunch.
Rotary International Convention Sydney 2014
Dates: June 1-4, 2014
Join Rotary members from around the world in Sydney, Australia, 1-4 June. The 2014 RI Convention will bring together some of the world’s leading experts on water, polio, and social media. You’ll find new ideas for service — and perhaps a new partner for creating change — in the House of Friendship.
Plan now to make this convention a memorable family vacation. Hug a koala at the Taronga Zoo, don a BridgeSuit and climb the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge, or take a cruise around the Darling Harbour.
Dates: July 26 to August 1, 2014
Interota, a worldwide Rotaract meeting held every three years, is organized and sponsored by Rotaractors. It provides our New Generations participants with a forum for sharing ideas, concerns, and experiences with others from around the world. Participants are also treated to sightseeing and other cultural events throughout the week-long event.
During the 2011 Interota Conference in Hurghada, Egypt, Rotaractors from Districts 7040, 7070, and 7080 launched a bid to host the next Interota in 2014, between Toronto and Montréal. It was a tough competition with 6 other countries competing: Hong Kong, Poland, Ghana, Lebanon, Greece, and Nigeria. During the conference, Canadian delegates promoted the bid by wearing Canadian t-shirts, which were signed by conference delegates from across the globe, they gave out Canadian pins, did a formal bid presentation, and used social media as a key tool to engage the entire Rotaract community. On November 22, 2011, the winning bid was announced and we are proud to say that Canada will be hosting Interota in 2014!
The Interota Organizing Committee has been hard at work developing its vision for the international conference, finding a strong group of Rotaractors to be a part of the organization of this great event, and promoting the conference to the Rotaractors around the world. The committee’s unique vision for the conference places an emphasis on leadership development and personal growth through cultural experiences. At the end of the conference, delegates will come away having developed their leadership skills, learned something about themselves, created new and strong friendships, and experienced a culture different from their own.
The Interota 2014 Organizing Committee is extremely thankful to Rotarians in Districts 7040 & 7070 for their tremendous support! They look forward to working with each district to ensure that Canada is one of the best hosts Interota has ever had!
