Monday, January 21st, 2013
Guest Speaker: D’Arcy McNaughton will speak to us about his recent trip to Africa where he took part in a conservation project.
D’Arcy’s presentation will be on the 3 and a half months he spent in Southern Africa (Namibia and South Africa) volunteering with a number of animal conservation projects. It will go over the importance of them and what sort of work volunteers can be expected to do.
D’Arcy has been involved in Rotary since he was young as his father played a vital role in the Youth Exchange program for district 6380, chairing the committee for that and the multidistrict. His family has hosted over 15 exchange students over the years and he first got into traveling when he embarked on his youth exchange to Iceland in 2004. From there he became addicted. Over the next several years D’Arcy has embarked on several trips across Europe, with 3 months living as an Aupair in Germany. His most recent adventure brought him to Africa, which was his way of reconnecting with himself after completing his degree, and a way to experience the animal kingdom in a way that few are able to while giving back at the same time.

Meeting Topic: Annual Trivia Night and Silent Auction
Come out and test your trivia skills while supporting a great cause! Every year, Rotaract Club of Toronto members attend the Rotaract Preconvention and Rotary International Convention; in an effort to give back to the host city, we take part in an annual service project. Sometimes that means we give back in terms of funds raised, hands-on contributions, or a combination of both.
This year, we will be supporting Elo Social, an organization that helps and shelters young handicapped adults, by providing work, training and psychological counselling.
The price is $10 admission per person. Teams size is 4 – come with your team pre-set or be paired up when you arrive!
We promise you’ll have quite a few laughs in the process! See you all there!
PS- We’ll also have a Silent Auction to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. Bidding starts at 5:45pm and will go until 7pm.
