1. Monday, July 11th, 2011 – Our first meeting of the New Rotaract Year!

We had a wonderful guest speaker, Ms. Julie Frost from the charitable organization, Arts for Children and Youth. Our club is delighted to partner with them for the Rotary Centennial Project next year. She shared with us information on her organization and discussed how Rotaractors will be able to assist them during the Centennial year. At tonight’s meeting, we had Maria and Kelly present on the Rotary International Convention and Rotaract Pre-Convention in New Orleans. If you missed the meeting, click here to view the presentation.

We also talked about several opportunities to become involved in the club, one of which is to join a committee! Here are the current committees: Hosting Committee (Rotaract Exchange Program Aug 12-14), Polio Fundraiser Committee, Networking Committee, Public Relations Committee and the Finance Committee.

Our guest speaker at the meeting was Faiyyad Hosein, a member of our club. He delivered a presentation on “Effective PowerPoint Presentations.” Faiyyad is an MBA grad from Rotman’s School of Business at the University of Toronto and has won several awards and competitions for his excellent presentations. In other news, we are working to organize a club fundraiser to help support the famine relief efforts in the Horn of Africa. Keep checking our Events section for updates. We still have space for volunteers on the Networking Committee and the Finance Committee. Any club members or prospective members are encouraged to join!

We had two guest speakers from the ‘East End Art Collective’ (EEAC), Nadia Fazal and Ashleigh Campbell, who are also prospective members to our club. We also welcomed 6 new members into our club!

Our speakre was Faiyyad Hosein, who gave us an enlightening presentation on how to give an “Effective PowerPoint Presentation”! Thanks Faiyyad for helping us improve our presentation skills!

Felix Loosman was our guest speaker. He told us about his travels through South East Asia, his studies in Germany and Toronto and about the organizational structure of Rotaract in Germany!
